In addition to the Mentawai chain, our captains are intimately familiar with the island chains lying to the North which include the Banyaks, the Telo Islands, and the Hinakos Islands including the island of Nias. Regular visits to this region have been resulting in some extremely memorable charters.

While the known breaks have been firing as expected, new breaks are being stumbled upon on a regular basis, and many other potential breaks have been noted (but rarely discussed!) for re-investigation when the swell is right.

While most of the surfing world focuses (and not without good reason) on the ultra-world class breaks in the Mentawai, those in the know have long been aware of the potential for great surf in the relatively unexplored island groups to the north. Being off the beaten path, charters to North Sumatra are much less likely to encounter other boats on a trip. No need to feel lonely, though, as these islands are exposed to pretty much the same swell as the Mentawai, giving you plenty of surf to keep busy.

A wide variety of breaks are on offer, from top to bottom grinders to long workable walls, both lefthanders and righthanders. It's up to you and and the conditions on what kinds of waves you want to surf.

The breaks tend to be extremely picturesque, bordering on awe-inspiring, with stunning clear blue-green waters and spectacular backdrops. It's almost worth going just for the scenery!
